EXPERIENCE:
Julia is experienced working with journalists and news organizations on First Amendment matters. She litigates matters and advises clients on newsgathering and media access issues, trademarks, copyrights, defamation defense, and FOIA matters.
Prior to joining Mandell P.C., Julia was a Media Law Fellow at the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press where she worked on federal and state FOIA litigation, wrote amicus and appellate briefs on a variety of access cases, and conducted prepublication review for journalists, authors, and documentary filmmakers. She also has experience working in-house at major news and entertainment companies including NBCUniversal and National Public Radio (NPR).
Julia previously served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Federal Communications Law Journal and was a finalist in the Van Vleck Constitutional Law Moot Court competition.
